AAVE Doula Collaborative 

Is coming in full force to change how birth workers are trained by providing them with culturally competent and congruent trainings. AAVE Doula goal is to reduce and/or eliminate the stressors of becoming a Certified Doula with a bridge to workforce opportunities by delivering inclusive AAVE Doula trainings for teens and community members.

 

Under this dynamic partnership, AAVE Doula will be training teens in their first month of a two commitment under the Teen Me Up summer employment program for NFT. Teens will learn many skills and gain community education such as providing teen peer support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum stages including but not limited to support body positivity and gender/sexual choices. The collaboration doesn't stop there, as NBB Perinatal Home Visitors will also be trained by AAVE Doula to provide perinatal home health support with a doula spin. The Perinatal Home Visitors will undergo a two month training with AAVE Doula before providing hands on assistance to families enrolled in NBB services.
